- Required for all NSF proposals that contain an off-campus and/or off-site research component (data/information/samples being collected off-campus or off-site, such as fieldwork and research activities on vessels and aircraft)
- Several solicitations from the Directorates for Biosciences (BIO) and Geological Sciences (GEO) require the submission of a Safe and Inclusive Work Environments Plan that will be considered as part of the Broader Impacts criteria during the review process. See list of participating programs.
- Collaborative proposals: To be submitted by the lead institution, even if the off-campus/off-site component is to take place at one of the collaborating organizations
