TPS is dedicated to exploring all questions relating to the intersection of technology, privacy, and the law, particularly the problem of balancing individual liberties with societal interests. We have held events discussing the history of privacy law, encryption, cryptocurrency, and recent legislation such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In the 2020-21 school year, we hope to host multiple talks, including one about the legal consequences of filming police activity and protests, as well as a privacy-related social service project and our annual Crypto Party. Our faculty sponsor is Neil Richards, who teaches the upper-level course on Information Privacy Law.
