She is an electrophysiologist by training, and her previous work explored the neural circuits of plasticity following fear conditioning in bats’ auditory systems. She has also investigated the modular organization of mouse visual cortex, and will likewise be assess visual circuits in the fat-tailed dunnart.
Weiqing graduated with an MD and obtained her MSc in Neurophysiology from The Third Military Medical School in China. She joined the Biology Department at Washington University in St. Louis for her Postdoc training under Professor Suga and then worked as a Staff Scientist under Professor Burkhalter.
Outside the lab, Weiqing enjoys swimming, hiking, music, and DIY projects with her husband. She has two adult children and two dogs.
