October 23, 2014: PMB Student Soon Goo Lee’s Paper is a JBC Paper of the Week
Soon Goo Lee (Jez lab) and Suwipa Seon-oon’s paper on phosphoethanolamine methyltransferase from Plasmodium falciparum (the malaria parasite) was selected by the JBC Editorial Board to be in the top 2% of papers in the journal.

In this BALSA-Monsanto collaboration, Brett Maricque (Ph.D. candidate in Computational and Systems Biology) served as the advisor, Greg Orf (Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry) served as the project manager, while Thomas Campbell (Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry), Dan Carlin (post-doctoral fellow in Anatomy and Neurobiology), and Amelia Nguyen (Ph.D. candidate in Plant and Microbial Biosciences) served as the consultants.

July 28, 2014: Angela Schlegel (Haswell Lab) and Dilys Vela Diaz (Myers Lab) are Inaugural Recipients of the William H. Danforth Plant Sciences Fellowship
The William H. Danforth Plant Sciences Fellowship seeks to foster a culture of intellectual entrepreneurship focused on research, leadership, and innovation in the general area of Plant Science. Plant Science bridges diverse areas of research ranging from agriculture to medicine and from energy production to climate change. The fellowship is open to first-year Washington University graduate students in any DBBS affiliated laboratory with a thesis project in the general area of plant biology.
