The Cost of a Costco View this post on Instagram “Over. My. Dead. Body.” — Calvin Koong, owner of Tai Ke, in response to Olive and 170 TIF In the month of June, 2018, UCity proposed a $190 million dollar redevelopment plan called Olive and 170 TIF that would not only result in a Costco being built on Olive Boulevard, but would also result in the displacement of numerous beloved businesses (such as Tai Ke, Pho Long, Nobu’s Japanese Restaurant, and more) and the buyout of 60 homes in the Third Ward. While it seemed like the proposal was going to move forward, a recently discovered miscalculation puts the plan back into the limelight. Join APIDJ, CSA and TSO for an interactive discussion on the true implications of the Olive and 170 TIF plan and how students can get involved. Free food will be provided (catered from Tai Ke, Pho Long, and more!) and special guest speakers, including Molly Metzger, will be present.
