Asians and Pacific Islanders Demanding Justice (APIDJ) is a social and political organization for Asians and Pacific Islander students on Washington University in St. Louis’ (WashU) campus. The purpose of this organization is to provide intentional spaces for Asians and Pacific Islanders (API) students to converge, reflect, and mobilize on issues that affect the API community, in addition to supporting other marginalized populations. These intentional spaces allow API students to voice their concerns regarding issues or problems that APIs experience and to act on them through direct action and community building. With this work, APIDJ creates a cohesive and supportive community for API students on campus.
They are not SU recognized, meaning they do not receive funding from the institution, allowing them an as organization to engage in dialogue or direct action where they see fit. This organization, in terms of leadership, will be as horizontal as possible and will make decisions as a group.
