At this month’s interactive team building activity, led by MSW student Wilberforce Tumwesige, team members in St. Louis self-identified as either “architects” (structure focused) or “artists” (outcome oriented). Each group worked together to both design an art project and play a highly competitive game of Jenga. While we did learn that there are some true artists amongst us, the real lesson was that everyone brings unique skills to the table, and productive and effective teams find a way to utilize everyone’s skills (whether it is big picture or detail oriented) and build upon each other’s strengths. We will continue to draw on this lesson as we move forward with our work. Thanks Wilberforce for leading such fun and important activity!
