Capacity Building Site

South Africa is one of our four partner countries for SMART Africa, specifically designated as the project site supporting the center’s capacity building initiatives in all three of the study implementation sites (i.e., Uganda, Ghana, and Kenya). The capacity building team, comprised of Drs. Arvin Bhana and Inge Petersen, offers extensive support in the conceptualization and facilitation of capacity building workshops and meetings. Moreover, SMART Africa-South Africa team shares their expertise through providing technical support in the implementation and scaling-up of evidence-based Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) interventions.

Most recently, the SMART Africa-South Africa team conducted a half-day pre-conference workshop on Theory of Change (ToC). This workshop introduced attendees to ToC and demonstrated how it could be developed and used in the planning of child and adolescent mental health services at the district level in Uganda.
