Dr. Mbwayo has taught in public high schools in Kenya for over 20 years, during which she served as Head of the Department of Guidance and Counseling, giving her a chance to come face to face with mental health obstacles for adolescents in school settings. Both her Master’s and Doctoral theses were conducted in schools, and investigated bullying and students’ mental health functioning as well as the impact of a school-based psycho-educational intervention program on students’ academic and mental health functioning.
