Inside SMART Africa

Dr. Fred Ssewamala presents research findings at the University of California, San Francisco

In December, Dr. Fred Ssewamala gave a presentation at the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) Town Hall at the University of California San Francisco Department of Medicine on “The Potential of Economic Strengthening Interventions in the Care and Support of Children and Adolescents Impacted by HIV/AIDS: Lessons from 15 Years of Research in Sub-Saharan Africa.” He discussed the successful “Suubi” intervention used throughout ICHAD’s research and its’ positive impacts on children’s health and well-being, including implications for future research. Following the meeting, Dr. Ssewamala had a productive meeting with ICHAD statistical consultant and faculty affiliates, Torsten Neilands (Professor of Medicine and Director of CAPS) and Amy Conroy (Assistant Professor of Medicine at CAPS) about ongoing research collaborations in Sub-Saharan Africa. ICHAD and the SMART Africa Center look forward to our continued relationship with the University of California, San Francisco.
