Welcome to the website of the Interface Research Group (IRG) at Washington University in Saint Louis!

We do research at the interface between chemistry, physics and materials science, as well as chemical and environmental engineering.  The systems we study also involve interfaces between different physical phases, for example plasma-liquid, plasma-solid, gas-liquid and gas-solid.  Our research interests span aerosols, nanomaterials for optoelectronic and structural applications, thermodynamics, and molecular conversions.  On the research page you will find some specific projects that are currently active.  Our funding comes from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Defense.
