A Mexican-American botanist known for her collection of novel plant specimens.

She travelled from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, braving earthquakes, bogs, and poisonous berries all for the sake of botanical discoveries.

She started her career later in life but in 13 years she managed to collect 150000 plant specimens.

50 new species have so far been named after her.
