An American biochemist best known for isolating a pure form of tuberculin, which led to development of a test for tuberculosis.
At age three, she contracted polio, forcing her to wear leg braces and walk with a limp throughout her life.
She was inducted into the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame and the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
