Har Gobind Khorana, PhD

(1922 – 2011)

First Asian born and Indian born Nobel laureate in Physiology/Medicine (1968).

The only Asian American Medicine/Physiology Nobel laureate.

First to demonstrate the role of nucleotides in protein synthesis and first scientist to chemically synthetize oligonucleotides.

Recipient of  National Medal of Science in 1987.
