A Jewish Austro-Hungarian-American biochemist that worked on glycogen metabolism.

The third woman to win a Nobel Prize in science, and the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (1947).

She was a professor at Washington University in St. Louis Medical School.
