Eugenie Clark, PhD

(1922 – 2015)

The “Shark Lady”, a Japanese-American ichthyologist.

She was a pioneer in the field of scuba diving for research purposes and was regarded as an authority in marine biology.

At least 5 species of fishes were named after her: Callogobius clarki, Sticharium clarkae, Enneapterygius clarkae, Atrobucca geniae, and Squalus clarkae.
