Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine

(1918 – 2007)

A biochemist knock for his discovery of the mechanisms of DNA replication, together with Dr. Severo Ochoa.

Recipient of 1959 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and the National Medal of Science (1979).

In 1953 he became Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine.
