An Argentinian British biochemist in the field of antibody research.

Recipient of 1984 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for developing the hybridoma technique for the production of monoclonal antibodies (shared with Niels Kaj Jerne and Georges J. F. Köhler).

He  was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1975.
