The Cognition and Development Lab has partnered with all of these school districts and childcare centers, both in current and previous studies. They have been a great partnership to have as the school communities closest to the WashU area, and we have greatly enjoyed working with our local population so that the research can benefit our region.

University City Children’s Center (UCCC)

University City Children’s Center (UCCC), founded in 1970, serves local families in their mission to create a safe, nurturing environment for children of diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds to learn and play together. UCCC offers a wide-range of programs  targeting early literacy, accessible and healthy nutrition, and interactive education for children and their guardians, among other important developmental realms.

WashU Nursery School

Located on Washington University’s campus, the nursery school encourages creativity and individuality as they aim to instill a genuine pleasure in learning, confidence, and interpersonal skills through fun, child-centered activities. Partially staffed by WashU students, student workers allow more individualized attention for each child, as well as a larger environment of fresh and excited learning by all.

SouthSide Early Childhood Center

SouthSide is an early childhood center aiming to provide equitable and inclusive learning opportunities and support to all families and children. Their programs range from educational, health resources, interpersonal connection and growth, and thought leadership for families with children up to 5-years-old.

Flance Early Learning Center

 Based on the tenets of Trust, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, and Consistency, Flance Early Learning Center strives to provide excellent education and nurturing to children while supporting families and strengthening the community.

School District of Clayton

 Housing 6 schools, the School District of Clayton inspires a love of learning and confidence to overcome challenges through a rich and rigorous academic culture. Beyond schooling, the district also offers a plethora of extracurricular activities and resources to best support its’ students in all they do. They even offer programs for the larger community, such as accessible adult continuing education opportunities for all life-long learners!

U City School District

With 9 schools, over 100 years of experience, and 2,600 students from PreK through 12th grade, The School District of University City educates and nurtures students throughout their entire career. With a history of excellence that speaks for itself, the district prepares students for their lives and careers through rigorous academics as well as accessible resources and opportunities to support students achieve whatever goals they can dream up.
