My experience at the Washington University Brown School was afforded to me by the Buder Scholarship. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Buder family and foundation for allowing me to make a difference in the lives of so many Native families through the Parents as Teachers home visiting platform in tribal communities. I had a very positive experience at the Brown School and particularly with my practicum experience at Parents as Teachers under the supervision of Sue Stepleton, former
President of PATNC, and my field Instructor, Marsha Gebhardt. As a current practicum field instructor, I have the opportunity to pay forward my experience with current and future students at the Brown School who are looking for a practicum experience in Indian Country. My mother always said, “When you help someone—you help yourself.” I am honored to work with the Washington University Buder Center for American Indian Studies
