On Oct. 20, 2017, I received an email from the Tower Grove Park Board of Commissioners asking for input on the Christopher Columbus statue at the entrance of Tower Grove Park. I was asked my thoughts as a St. Louis local, as a Washington University researcher, and as a Native American.
I’ve always loved spending time in Tower Grove Park. Like many residents in the area, I frequent it on a regular basis, but before receiving this email, I did not know that there was a Columbus statue in the park.
