Sasha Hernandez, MD

Dr. Sasha Hernandez is an Obstetrician & Gynecologist and currently holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health as well as the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Hernandez is passionate about improving global access to equitable maternal healthcare, working towards this goal through a combination of research, capacity building, policy improvement, and protocol and program implementation. Her efforts have been rooted in implementing low-resource-high-impact initiatives to improve healthcare for women in numerous settings worldwide, most recently in northern Ghana though the AMPATH Ghana partnership. In her research work, she has been the PI or co-investigator for global health research projects related to the improvement of maternal healthcare by increasing the capacity of frontline healthcare workers which has led to publications, training tools, and regional policy changes.
