Samuel Adjorlolo, PhD, Mphil, MSc

Dr. Samuel Adjorlolo (PhD) is a senior lecturer and head of Department of Mental Health, School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Ghana. Dr. Adjorlolo obtained a PhD in Applied Social Sciences from the City University of Hong Kong, where he received several honors and awards, including the prestigious Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies Scholarship. Prior to this, he graduated from the University of Ghana where he received Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing and Psychology, and Clinical Psychology, respectively. He also received a Master of Science degree in Telemedicine and e-health from the UiT-Arctic University of Norway under the Norwegian Quota Scholarship Scheme. Dr. Adjorlolo joined the University of Ghana in 2018 as a lecturer and was promoted to senior lecturer in 2020. In 2019, he was awarded an Early Career Research grant by the University of Ghana to undertake school mental health project. He was also a recipient of Early Career Research grant under the Queen Elizabeth Scholars-Advanced Program, University of Alberta (Canada). He is a fellow of the Research Integrity program, NYU Grossman School of Medicine (US), with funding from Fogarty and National Institute of Health (NIH).

Dr. Adjorlolo’s research focuses on mental health, including child and adolescent mental health, and maternal mental health. Dr. Adjorlolo and his team have won 10 competitive local and international grants for research projects related to child and adolescent health, maternal health and COVID-19 pandemic. He has published his scholarly works in peer-reviewed journals and as book chapters. Dr. Adjorlolo co-edited the African mental health and criminal justice system book, published by Palgrave Macmillan. He is an Editor of Cogent Social Sciences, Guest Editor of Frontiers in Psychology (forensic and legal psychology specialty section), Guest Editor of International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health; Editorial Board Member of Forensic Science International: Mind and Law; and an ad-hoc reviewer for over 15 peer-reviewed journals and academic publishers.
