Global Pediatric Surgery Research Fellow, University of Illinois Chicago

Originally from Haiti, Dr. Nadlie Toussaint is the current pediatric global surgery research fellow at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where her research is focused on factors that impact surgical outcomes in low and middle income countries, especially in the pediatric population. She is also invested in surgical capacity building in these regions through minimally invasive laparoscopic training courses for surgeons from LMIC. Dr. Toussaint also serves on the accreditation & program administrators committee of association of academic global surgery, which aims to provide guidelines and accreditation criteria of academic global surgery programs. Dr. Toussaint will pursue a fellowship in pediatric surgery and plans to continue working in local underserved communities as well as aboard.
