Embarking on my research journey, I discovered a transformative experience through the ACHIEVE training program. ACHIEVE has not only enriched my academic knowledge but has also been instrumental in shaping my networking skills and enhancing my proficiency in public speaking.
ACHIEVE has provided me with opportunities to connect with fellow researchers and professionals globally. As an ACHIEVE fellow, participating in various scientific workshops, symposiums, and conferences has significantly contributed to my growth as a speaker. A noteworthy experience was the Annual Rwanda Research Symposium organized by the University of Rwanda Centre for Mental Health & the Research Program on Children and Adversity in the Boston College School of Social Work, focusing on “Advancing Evidence-Based Interventions for Mental Health, Child Development, and Parenting.” I had the privilege of not only appearing on a panel to discuss the ACHIEVE training but also moderating a half-day session. Another notable event was the opportunity to contribute to the University of Rwanda/Center for Mental Health’s monthly Research Capacity Building Series, where I delivered a talk on research methodologies in implementation science.
As I transition to the second phase of qualitative data collection, I am grateful for the comprehensive training provided by ACHIEVE. Having successfully completed the analysis of quantitative data, I am now poised to present my findings in a Grants and Sponsored Research Initiative (GRIT) quarterly seminar organized by Boston College School of Social Work’s Research Program on Children and Adversity. This opportunity is particularly significant for an early-career researcher from a low-income country like Rwanda. ACHIEVE has empowered me to navigate the challenges and complexities of research, providing a solid foundation for my continued academic pursuits
My experience with ACHIEVE has been nothing short of transformative. From networking opportunities to honing public speaking skills and advancing in my research journey, ACHIEVE has been a guiding force. Looking ahead, I am excited about the endless possibilities that ACHIEVE has unlocked, and I am eager to see how far this journey will take me.
