Q) Who can watch films at WU Cinema?
Everyone! We welcome all Washington University students, partners, visiting friends, members of the public, alumni, staff and children. You don’t have to be a WU Cinema member to attend. ID may be requested (Student ID will be accepted).
Q) How do I find WU Cinema?
WU Cinema operate from Brown Hall room 100.
Directions from campus: Brown Hall is located in the southeast corner of Washington University’s Danforth Campus.
Parking: General visitors are encouraged to park in the East End Garage.
Driving Directions: Click here for driving directions to the East End Garage via Google Maps. To approximate the address for GPS, use: 6453 Centennial Parkway, St. Louis, MO.
A note about finding our buildings using GPS: Individual buildings on Washington University campus do not have street addresses. However, typing in the following address approximates the Brown School Campus location, at the intersection of Forsyth Boulevard and Hoyt Drive: 6350 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105. Q) What’s the cost of admission?
Admission is free to all Washington University students with a valid ID.
$7 for the general public
$5 for seniors, Washington University alumni and students from other schools
$4 for Washington University staff and faculty
We offer general admission seating with payment of cash or credit.
Q) How do I join WU Cinema?
Any student can become a member by contacting us at: WU-Cinema@email.wustl.edu
If you wish to be more involved in the society you should feel free to come along to one of our meetings. We will help you to find what role suits you and introduce you to our other members.
Our roles include tickets sales, working on the refreshments stand, programming committee members, show captains and ushers, projecting with our digital projector and 35MM film projector, press and publicity, and even running this website.
Q) What technology does WU Cinema use?
Currently we use the same technology as any other commercial Cinema: A digital cinema projector, 35MM film projection, Dolby Sound speakers and a large Cinema Scope screen.
Q) How does WU Cinema book films?
We operate in exactly the same manner as a typical cinema, the difference being that we are run by volunteers and any profit made is reinvested back into the cinema. Our films are all supplied by cinema distributors.
Q) How many seats does Brown Hall have?
We have a maximum capacity of around 350 people per screening. For health and safety we cannot exceed this number.
Q) Do you sell refreshments?
Popcorn and a selection of sweets and chocolate confectionary are also available at low prices at the door on the night
