Annika is isolating and purifying the salmycins, a family of siderophore-antibiotic conjugates produced by Streptomyces, to develop them as potent antibiotics against the superbug MRSA.  Outside of the lab, Annika enjoys playing basketball, hiking, snowboarding, baking, and cheering on the Denver Broncos and St. Louis Cardinals.  Annika’s favorite antibiotic is tetracycline
