Wilson (Zach) Ray, MD

Department of Neurosurgery

Dr. Ray has a clinical program using nerve transfers to treat SCI and myelopathies and develops new technology to assist diagnosis and treatment for these critical injuries. In particular, Dr. Ray has developed non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers of SCI severity and cervical myelopathy using diffusion tensor imaging, has evaluated sieve electrodes for motor activation and sensory recording in SCI regeneration, and investigated absorbable electronics capable of enhancing axonal regeneration. Students in Dr. Ray’s group will work with pre-clinical model development, instrumentation and device design, and corresponding signal processing in application to SCI and neuronal regeneration and repair.
