Hello future Medical Scientist Trainees (MSTs), we are very excited to host Revisit (Second Look) in person!

Choosing the medical school that can best support your personal and professional development can be a daunting task. Therefore, we want to ensure that you have the information needed to be confident in your decision. This weekend is an excellent opportunity to meet your future classmates and get a taste for life in Saint Louis. You’ll have multiple chances to talk with current students, view our beautiful campus and scope out our city. Activities for MSTP candidates span Thursday, April 11th through Sunday, April 14th. A few highlights:

  • THURSDAY evening will start with a mocktail reception with your fellow applicants at the DoubleTree (Parkway) Hotel. Next, you’ll have dinner with MSTP students at the Moonrise Hotel’s rooftop terrace. Finally, you’ll choose your own adventure (activity) and head out for some fun around the city. Student organizers will be in contact with a list of available activities.
  • FRIDAY is a combination of planned activities and flex time. Planned activities include meet ups with MSTP students, alumni and the MSTP faculty committee. During your flex time, you can sign up for the MSTP-led campus & hospital tour, meeting with our faculty, or explore the area on your own. If you would like to meet with faculty, please see the tips below. In the late afternoon (~5pm) you’ll transition to the Office of Admissions’ Second Look Weekend events, including a dinner for MD and MSTP candidates.
  • On SATURDAY, you will continue participating in the Office of Admissions’ Second Look Weekend programming.
  • MSTP revisit concludes SUNDAY morning an optional MSTP Buddy Breakfast.

A few tips:

Faculty Meetings: We’ve embedded flex times within our Revisit schedule, these are great opportunities to meet with faculty on the medical campus. Traveling to the Danforth campus is possible, but you’ll need additional time. Please email the faulty directly (click here for WUSTL directory). In this email, indicate you’re an accepted MSTP applicant participating in Revisit, and would like to meet during your flex time (give available times). Feel free to reach out to multiple faculty members. If you end up with schedule conflicts, it is completely fine to say you’re no longer available! Once you have a time confirmed, be sure to ask for their office location. If you need help scheduling faculty appointments, just let us know.

Tours: MSTP students will lead a few tours of the campus. Space is limited, so we’ll have a sign-up. If you’re not able to attend one of the MSTP tours, don’t worry, the Office of Admissions is also hosting tours.  Once you have your travel arrangements, sign up here:

Attire: All MSTP events are casual attire. For the Office of Admissions Second Look events, they recommend business casual for Friday evening and Saturday evening, with casual the rest of the time (Friday afternoon and Saturday during the day)

About the Medical Scientist Training Program

Each year, we enroll approximately 25 talented, energetic and compassionate individuals to undertake a rigorous training program to earn their MD/PhD. In addition to medical training, our students study in outstanding laboratories where they develop new insights that advance scientific understanding and may lead to therapies that promote the health of patients.

MSTP graduates typically pursue careers combining research and patient care, most often at academic medical centers, but also at government agencies, pharmaceutical companies and biotech firms.
