Giovanna Bonadonna, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Giovanna Bonadonna is a postdoctoral research associate interested in behavioral ecology and non-human primate conservation. Her research focuses on Critically Endangered lemur species in Madagascar.

Giovanna received her Ph.D. in Biology and Applied Biotechnologies from the University of Turin, Italy.

Patricia Mendoza, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Patricia is a wildlife veterinarian interested in the study of health risks emerging from wildlife trade and human-induced habitat modifications. Her research centers on the genetics and health of lemurs in Madagascar and trafficked primates in Peru. She received her Ph.D. in Biology from University of Missouri-St Louis and her DVM from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru.

Gisela Sobral, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Gisela Sobral is a postdoctoral research associate interested in the hormonal regulation of social behaviour and spatio-temporal use of the landscape by non-human primates.

She is a biologist and received her PhD in Animal Reproduction from the University of São Paulo, Brazil.

Lauren Wiseman Jones

Graduate Student

Lauren is a graduate student with an interest in ecology and conservation. She hopes to study how anthropogenic impacts effect the physiology and behavior of primates. 

Lauren completed her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology at Cardiff University and received her Master’s degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation from Imperial College London.

Ember is a graduate student interested in the spatial ecology and conservation of non-human primates. Ember completed her Bachelor’s degree in geography and geographic information systems from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

Alice is an undergraduate student studying anthropology and business. She is interested in exploring human-wildlife interactions and conservation, and hopes to pursue a graduate degree.

Isis is an undergraduate student studying Anthropology and Political Science. She is interested in the behavior and conservation of non-human primates and plans to pursue a graduate degree after college.

Jillian is a recent graduate currently serving as an Americorps vista. She is working with the Aims Foundation, an organization in Greeley Colorado that provides scholarships to local community college students. She is hoping to pursue a graduate degree in anthropology afterwards.

Kayce is a recent graduate who majored in International & Area Studies with a minor in Anthropology. She is passionate about working with communities and will be joining The Peanut Butter Project’s team in Sierra Leone beginning this fall.

Laura Abondano

Visiting Researcher Fall 2019

Laura is a PhD candidate at the University of Texas at Austin. Her doctoral dissertation investigates female reproductive strategies in wild woolly monkeys from the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador, using a combination of behavioral, genetic, and endocrinological methods. 

Laura is currently a visiting researcher in the Reproductive Ecology and Behavioral Endocrinology Lab at Washington University, where she is conducting endocrinological analyses to identify hormonal correlates of spider and woolly monkey cooperative behaviors.  

Amy Luo

BA 2020

Amy graduated WashU in the spring of 2020 with bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and global health. Amy is now a Master’s student at Harvard Chan School of Public Health. She hopes to pursue a career in public health with an emphasis on human rights and health.
