On January 21, Senator Jamilah Nasheed hosted the 5th Annual Sex Trafficking Awareness Day at the State Capitol to honor National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

Over two dozen agencies participated in exhibits in the morning at the State Capitol Rotunda, including the National Council of Jewish Women St. Louis (NCJW-STL), Human Trafficking Collaborative Network (HTCN), United Nations Association (UNA-USA) St. Louis Chapter, and Missouri Coalition Against Trafficking and Exploitation (MO-CATE) from the St. Louis region. A rally was held in the afternoon where Sen. Nasheed thanked the participating agencies in attendance for their dedication for combating human trafficking. Senator Brian Williams will host the 6th Annual Sex Trafficking Awareness Day next year.
