Global-Local Webinar

Leveraging the international research and education activities of HTCN members, in August 2023, we hosted an hour-long webinar for local audiences to highlight the global-local connections of HTCN’s efforts. Annamaria Szakonyi presented her research on geospatial mapping of gender differences in global human trafficking using data from the CTDC, a global data hub aggregating accessible data on trafficking from a diverse network of partners, including law enforcement, NGOs, and international bodies. Linda Neumann discussed human trafficking prevention networks in the United Arab Emirates. Mary Lupo presented her presentation on illegal surrogacy in Ukraine during the current war, piecing together fragmented information available from informants and the literature.  This webinar aimed to provide a broader perspective on the multifaceted issues of human trafficking, showcasing how international research and local efforts intersect to combat this global challenge.
