Linda Neumann’s Educational Involvement

Linda Neumann, an HTCN Steering Committee Member, has played a pivotal role in the HTCN through her extensive education-based initiatives. Serving as a school nurse liaison, she has focused on raising awareness and preventing human trafficking, addressing critical protocols for identifying and responding to potential cases and exploring existing research on the topic. Linda has delivered school component presentations related to human trafficking to the Missouri Association of School Nurses and has been actively involved with both the Missouri Association and the National Association of School Nurses. She has conducted multiple presentations, some specifically for school nurses, and collaborated with fellow HTCN Steering Committee members, Rumi Kato Price and John Viviano, on presentations for the Normandy and Ferguson-Florissant School Districts. Her active participation extends to various statewide organizations and committees, including the Missouri Injury and Violence Prevention Advisory Committee. Linda Neumann’s International Advocacy Involvement

Linda Neumann‘s dedication to understanding and combating human trafficking extends beyond domestic borders. As part of a national delegation, she traveled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to explore the differences in the healthcare system between the United States and the UAE. During this visit, Linda highlighted critical issues related to children and mental health, gaining valuable insights into the unique challenges faced in the UAE. Additionally, she deepened her understanding of human trafficking within the UAE, further enriching her expertise and informing her efforts to address this global issue.

Marilen Pitler’s Advocacy Involvement

Marilen Pitler, a member of the HTCN Steering Committee, has been a dedicated advocate for over ten years, representing the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) in St. Louis, where she serves as the Vice President of Advocacy. Her efforts have focused on representing women, children, and families, addressing critical issues such as human trafficking. Marilen is actively organizing an event for January 16th at the Jewish Community Center, in conjunction with the Jewish Book Festival. The event will feature Brian Joseph, author of “Vegas Concierge,” and a survivor from the book. This event will provide a platform for discussions on human trafficking, featuring the author and the survivor sharing their experiences and insights. In addition to this event, Marilen is in discussion with Missouri State Senator Brian Williams about planning human trafficking events later in 2025. Marilen and Senator Williams have a history of collaboration, having previously worked on advocacy efforts at Jefferson City at the State Capitol Building. They also co-hosted an event at the University of Missouri St. Louis campus, focusing on human trafficking-related bills. Marilen’s advocacy extends beyond single events; her dedication to raising awareness and driving legislative change has been unwavering for over a decade. Her work with the NCJW, the HTCN, and various community leaders emphasizes her commitment to human trafficking advocacy, especially as it relates to women, children, and families.
