Ginger Nicol, MD

Ginger Nicol, MD

Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Director of the mHealth Research Core

Ginger Nicol, MD, is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist at Washington University in St. Louis, where she leads the Gateway2Wellness project with the immensely talented G2W team. She’s psyched (pun intended) about G2W because it brings together some of the most amazing minds in healthcare from St. Louis and beyond to solve a problem that impacts every one of us: the mental wellbeing of our healers. As a “healthy” healer who has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 20 years, her approach to balance is always work in progress. Lately, the combination of mildly subversive hair color, occasional (but strategic!) swearing, and prudent consumption of Cheetos, interspersed with regular meals and bouts of sleep, seems promising. When those don’t do the trick, she heads outside to hike or listen to live music with her better half (who also has better hair).

Richard A and Elizabeth Henby Sutter Professor of Occupational, Industrial, and Environmental Medicine in Medicine, Director of Healthy Work Center at Washington University School of Medicine

Bradley Evanoff, MD, MPH directs the Healthy Work Center at Washington University School of Medicine, which pursues pragmatic research to improve the health of workers in health care, construction, and other industries (oshr.wustl.edu). He is excited about this project because it will help alleviate the growing burden of stress, burnout, and decreased well being experienced by health care workers. To cope with stress he exercises, plays the saxophone, and cooks dishes that require chopping lots of vegetables.

Teddi Gray

Teddi Gray

Clinical Research Supervisor

Teddi Gray is the lab manager of the Nicol Lab and has worked in various healthcare programs for close to 40 years.  When Teddi is stressed she likes to binge-watch HGTV for tips on home improvement and play Yahtzee, Bingo, or Cash Frenzy on her phone.  This study is important to Teddi because through her 40 years of work she has periodically experienced workplace burnout and understands how it affects all aspects of life.

Anna Kinghorn, MS

Anna Kinghorn, MS

Clinical Research Coordinator

Anna is a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Healthy Work Center. She has been working with Dr. Bradley Evanoff on workplace wellness research studies for the past 13 years and is passionate about improving worker health through simple and sustainable work-based interventions. To de-stress, Anna listens to audiobooks while embarking on a new craft that will inevitably take over her dining room table, or has dance parties with her two kiddos.

Vicki Martin, MA

Vicki Martin, MA

Clinical Research Coordinator

Vicki is a research coordinator in the Nicol Lab and a Navigator for the Gateway2Wellness program. Like a lot of moms, Vicki was past 40 before she really discovered the importance of mental health wellness and counseling. She hopes she can encourage others to find the tools that support their mental health sooner than she did! When Vicki is stressed you can find her walking her dog, stress baking, obsessively putting together puzzles until all hours and/or binging BBC murder mysteries and reruns of her TV heroes: Leslie Knope, Liz Lemon, Midge Maisel.

Demetrius Perry

Clinical Research Coordinator

Demetrius is a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Healthy Mind Lab.  He is eager to help HCW’s explore resources within the workplace.

“I have personally worked for many jobs and never knew my resources for a long time. I believe it is important that this information is available to help prevent burnout.”

When he is stressed out, you can find him out for a walk, working on his breathing and processing whatever the pain points are.
