EECE Ph.D. Student

M.Phil. Bioengineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

B.S. Chemistry, Shaanxi Normal University

Proteins are the building blocks of life. Nature has created various proteins with their own unique features. Synthetic biology enables us to assemble them by recombination and constructing them into macroscopic materials. I am interested in designing advanced functional protein materials for real-world applications. Outside the lab, I enjoy photography, reading, and walking.

Research Assistant working on CRISPR based diagnostics – Proof Diagnostics

Process Development Associate working on scaling qPCR diagnostics – Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard

Research Assistant working on designing bacteria and fungi for living on mars – NASA Ames Research Center

My current research project is helping to determine what amino acid sequences can improve the material properties of protein based fibers. Outside the lab I’m still figuring out my way around St. Louis. During the warm months I like camping, running, climbing and live music (not concerts, don’t invite me)  and during the cold months I like reading, making playlists and playing board games. If I had it my way though every month would be a hot one.
