Alyssa Beck
Research Assistant
Alyssa is a Junior studying Psychology and Brain Sciences at Washington University. After Graduating she hopes to study Clinical Psychology at a graduate level and continue to work in Family Welfare. Her research interest is in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness on emotional regulation. Outside of school, she works full time as the program coordinator for Washington University Cardiology Fellowship, and volunteers with CASA of southwestern Illinois.

Kaitlyn Butler
Research Assistant
Kaitlyn is a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis, also from the St. Louis area. She is majoring in Psychological & Brain Sciences with the intent of pursuing clinical psychology at the graduate level. Her research interests include adaptive and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies and the relationship between addiction and other psychiatric disorders. Outside of academics, she spends her time running, enjoying the outdoors, reading, and playing music.

Cece Cooper

Maggie Crimmins
Maggie is a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis from Portland, Oregon double majoring in Psychology and Marketing. Her interests include how adolescents develop maladaptive coping mechanisms and how eating disorders relate to other mental disorders. She hopes to work in clinical psychology in some capacity in the future. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling, and fashion.

Helena DeFanti
Research Assistant
Helena is a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis and is double majoring in Psychological and Brain Sciences and Organization and Strategic Management. She is currently most interested in counseling/clinical psychology, but is open to studying almost anything in the psychology field! Eventually, she hopes to become a counseling psychologist. Outside of school, she is an English tutor and enjoys playing intramural soccer.

Jack Furman
Research Assistant
Jack is a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Jack joined the lab to develop research skills and better understand how emotions change as people develop. After graduating from WashU, he hopes to attend graduate school and continue his education. Outside of academics, he enjoys playing sports with friends, specifically pickleball and golf, and relaxing with friends and family.

EunSeo Kim
Research Assistant
EunSeo is a junior at Washington University in St. Louis, who is from South Korea. She studies Psychological and Brain Sciences, as well as Dance. She joined the lab to gain research experience in psychology, and her research interests are human well-being and emotion regulations throughout the lifespan of a person's adulthood, as well as the implications of individual variances in well-being and health outcomes. After graduating from WashU, she intends to go to graduate school or medical school. Besides academics, she enjoys baking, Pilates, and traveling.

Sharon Shen
Research Assistant
Sharon is currently a second-year student majoring in psychology and minoring in marketing and design. She loves to doodle in her free time and is obsessed with cats. She enjoys running experiments and recruiting participants for the lab!

Sophia Stolzer
Research Assistant
Sophia Stolzer is a rising junior from Festus, Missouri. She is majoring in Anthropology: Global Health and Environment with hopes to attend medical school in the future to explore psychiatry. She is interested in mental health, particularly in depression and how it affects emotion regulation and motivation. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, reading, and playing tennis with friends.

Matthew Wang
Research Assistant
Matthew is a first-year student at Washington University in St. Louis, originally from Morristown, New Jersey. He plans on majoring in Philosophy-neuroscience-psychology with a minor in Anthropology. He joined the lab to develop his research skills and better understand how emotional regulation adapts as we age. After graduating from WashU, he hopes to pursue further education in Med School. Outside of academics, Matthew enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, tennis, and hanging out with friends.

Shirley Wu
Research Assistant
Shirley is a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis from Nanjing, China. She is currently majoring in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Art History & Archaeology. She hopes to go to graduate school after receiving her bachelor's degree. Shirley joined the lab because she would like to discover the role of emotion in people’s relations and the everyday decision-making process. During her free time, she loves drawing, watching comedies, and playing Oboe.
