The CRAB lab Mission Statement has three pillars:

  1. Science: Advance our understanding of the neurodevelopmental processes that underlie real-world social and emotional processing and how these processes differ as a function of anxiety and depression risk and symptoms. The long term goal is to be able to use this knowledge to improve clinical interventions and treatments for affected children.
  2. Training: Provide high-quality training and mentorship to the next generation of scientists. We accomplish this through a combination of training sessions offered OCEAN-wide and 1-on-1 mentoring tailored to the trainee. The goal is to scaffold individual professional development which in turn benefits science and society.
  3. Community: Positively contribute the broader scientific community by enabling full participation of historically excluded individuals in academia; fostering a community of inclusion and mutual respect; and practicing open science.

All three of these pillars are equally important and shape all aspects of the lab.
