Dr. Yvonne Karamagi is a Medical Doctor with a Master’s in Public Health. She is emerging in Paediatric and Adolescents HIV research having active participation in ongoing studies for Prevention of Mother-To-Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT) and for Pharmacovigilance of dolutegravir-based Antiretroviral Therapies (ART). She is interested in researching the effect of COVID-19 on the mental health of adolescents living with HIV in Uganda. Her current role as Director of Medical Services includes scaling up of comprehensive paediatric and adolescent HIV services including Prevention, Care, Treatment and Research services to special populations like Orphans and Vulnerable Children. Her CAMH research shall support introducing relevant CMD screening tools into service delivery; the skills gained from the Fellowship shall equip her in leading mental health research teams to tackle issues during COVID-19 responses in the context of HIV in Uganda
