Dr. Leticia Kyohangirwe holds multiple roles as a clinician (psychiatrist), research scientist and a study coordinator. She works with Mental Health Section of Medical Research Council/Uganda Virus Research Institute and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Uganda Research Unit where she has been coordinating a pilot later on a cluster randomized clinical trial study on integrating the management of depression into routine HIV care in Uganda. She has participated in co-authoring papers from this project including the protocol paper ‘Kinyanda, E., Kyohangirwe, L., Mpango, R. S., Tusiime, C., Ssebunnya, J., Katumba, K., … & Patel, V. (2021). Effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of integrating the management of depression into routine HIV Care in Uganda (the HIV+ D trial): A protocol for a cluster-randomized trial. International journal of mental health systems, 15(1), 1-11.’. Dr. Kyohangirwe completed her Master of Medicine in Psychiatry from Makerere University (2018). Dr. Kyohangirwe has interest in improving the mental health care of children and adolescents with HIV/AIDS and seeks to adapt and implement psychological treatments to address common mental health problems especially depression in this population. Dr. Kyohangirwe also conducts her clinical duties at the Butabika National Referral Hospital for mental health.
