The Global Adolescent Health and Economic Strengthening Conference will bring together stakeholders interested in addressing the root causes of HIV and other poor health outcomes, namely poverty and mental health. The conference will provide opportunities for bi-directional learning via panels, workshops, and networking sessions. Esteemed guests and speakers include the Honorable Dr. Ruth Aceng, Uganda Minister of Health (invited); Provost Beverly Wendland; Mary McKay, Vice Provost of Interdisciplinary Initiatives; Dorian Traube, Neidorff Family and Centene Corporation Dean of the Brown School; officials from the National Institutes of Health, and many more.
The conference will be integrated with the D43 CHILD-GRF Research Training Program Final Meeting. CHILD-GRF is an FIC-funded global research training program that provides early career research trainees from Uganda with a three-year mentored research training curriculum to support their pilot research in addressing HIV prevention and the serious burden of child and adolescent mental health (CAMH) in the context of HIV/AIDS. Integrating the Program Final Meeting with the Global Adolescent Health and Economic Strengthening Conference will provide the scholars a large platform to disseminate their pilot study results, and to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of conference presenters and attendees.
