“As a research assistant for the Buder Center, I have learned so much about indigenous history, resiliency, tradition, and values. I am consistently amazed by how limited my education about American Indians was growing up, even with my family being from Oklahoma.

As a white European American, I think it’s is important to relearn the true history of the United States and work to towards a more just world for native people. It is a blessing to be able to learn and grow here at Buder Center, while working on projects that combine my passion for social and environmental justice.

I am grateful for all that I have learned and will continue to learn under the mentorship of Dr. Tovar. Thank you to all the Buder staff and scholars for welcoming me into your community and your friendship along the way!”
