Hosted together with the St. Louis Chess Club and Scholastic Center, our semiannual rapid and blitz tournament features free registration and a $1000 prize pool! Join us for a day of chess, fun, and free food!
Spring 2025 Rapid & Blitz!
The WashU Spring Rapid & Blitz will be held on February 8th at the Danforth University Center. As before, the rapid tournament will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and the blitz tournament will run from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and there’ll also be free lunch provided!
The prize distribution for each tournament is shown below.
- Rapid Tournament ($680 Total):
- Open: 1st Place: $200, 2nd Place: $100, 3rd Place: $50,
- Top U1800: $50
- U1500: 1st Place: $140, 2nd Place: $70, 3rd Place: $35,
- Top U1200: $35
- Open: 1st Place: $200, 2nd Place: $100, 3rd Place: $50,
- Blitz Tournament ($320 Total):
- Open: 1st Place: $110, 2nd Place: $60, 3rd Place: $30
- U1500: 1st Place: $60, 2nd Place: $40, 3rd Place: $20

Fall 2024 Rapid & Blitz
Held on September 21st, we had over 100 people participate! Congrats to WGM Tatev Abrahamyan and FM Marcus Miyasaka for winning the Rapid section and IM Tianqi Wang and NM Shelev Oberoi for winning the blitz section!
Spring 2024 Rapid & Blitz
Held on February 10th, this rapid & blitz event was our biggest tournament yet with over 100 participants! Congrats to FM Marcus Miyasaka for winning the rapid section and WGM’s Tatev Abrahamyan and Thalia Cervantes for winning the blitz section!
