The Details
The fall edition of the rapid and blitz tournament will be held on Saturday, September 21st. The location will be the second floor of the Danforth University Center (DUC).
The schedule is as follows:
Rapid Event (11:00 am – 4:00 pm):
- Round 1: 11:00 am
- Round 2: 11:45 am
- Free Pizza: 12:30 pm
- Round 3: 1:30 pm
- Round 4: 2:15 pm
- Round 5: 3:00 pm
- Awards: 3:45 pm – 4:00 pm
Blitz Event (4:30 pm – 6:00 pm):
- Round 1: 4:30 pm
- Round 2: 4:45 pm
- Round 3: 5:00 pm
- Round 4: 5:15 pm
- Round 5: 5:30 pm
- Awards: 5:45 pm – 6:00 pm
The time control for the rapid section is 15 minutes + 3 second increment, and the time control for the blitz section is 3 minutes + 2 second increment.
There will be two sections in the rapid tournament (Open and U1500) and a single section in the blitz tournament. The prize distribution is as follows:
- Rapid Tournament ($670 Total):
- Open: 1st Place: $200, 2nd Place: $100, 3rd Place: $75
- U1500: 1st Place: $100, 2nd Place: $75, 3rd Place: $50
- Top U1000: 1st Place: $50, 2nd Place: $20
- Blitz Tournament ($330 Total):
- Open: 1st Place: $120, 2nd Place: $60, 3rd Place: $30
- Top U1500: 1st Place: $60, 2nd Place: $30
- Top U1000: 1st Place: $30

Spring 2024 Rapid & Blitz
Held on February 10th, this rapid & blitz event was our biggest tournament yet with over 100 participants! Congrats to FM Marcus Miyasaka for winning the rapid section and WGM’s Tatev Abrahamyan and Thalia Cervantes for winning the blitz section!
