Assistant Professor

Rui grew up in the city of Nanjing on the east coast of China. Rui completed his Ph.D. research at the University of Georgia and did his postdoctoral training at Stanford University. As the group leader, Rui will build an inclusive, supportive, and creative research environment for every team member.
In his spare time, Rui loves fishing, hiking, and traveling with his family.

Andy Xu, BA
Research Assistant

Andy grew up in Chicago and has spent most of his life throughout the Midwest. Andy graduated from Washington University in 2020 with a BA in Chemistry with a Biochemistry Concentration and minors in Computer Science and Writing. In his free time, Andy enjoys creativity through music, movies, games, and writing.

Isabella Guppy, BS
Research Assistant

Isabella grew up in a small town outside of Peoria, IL. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville with a BS in Biology, with a concentration in genetics and cell biology and a minor in chemistry. She enjoys weightlifting, reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family in her free time.

Zhang Yang, MD/PhD
Postdoc

Zhang grew up in the city of Longhai, located in southeastern China. In 2020, he obtained his MD&PhD degree from the University of Bern. Previously, He served as a thoracic surgeon at Union Hospital of Fujian Medical University, where his primary focus was on studying drug-resistant mechanisms and KRAS-mutated cancers. He enjoys hiking ,swimming and cooking alongside his family.
