Dr. Maribeth Clifton, OTD, OTR/L, was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She received her doctorate in occupational therapy from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 2020. Dr. Clifton is currently an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Her primary responsibilities include teaching pediatric and mental health content. She also serves as a faculty affiliate of the Race and Opportunity Lab at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Clifton strives to promote social justice through her community-engaged work. She is committed to increasing opportunities, facilitating better outcomes, and reducing disparities for marginalized communities through research and practice. Her specific research interests relate to increasing inclusion and belonging in higher education for learners with minoritized identities, and the promotion of mental and behavioral health among children and youth from marginalized communities.
