Claire Najjuuko is a PhD student in the Data and Computational Sciences Program in McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. Her research interest lies at the intersection of computational and data sciences with public health, focusing on utilizing big data analytics and artificial intelligence to improve healthcare delivery and public health outcomes. With a focus on children, adolescents, and young adults in low-resource communities particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, Claire interested in addressing pressing health issues such as child health, HIV/AIDS, mental health challenges, alcohol and drug use disorders, and climate change health effects. By leveraging sources of big data such as electronic health records, population data, longitudinal study data, and environmental data her goal is to work towards reducing health disparities in the Global South and to inform healthcare policies and practices that are evidence-based and data-driven.
