Joshua Kiyingi, MS

Joshua Kiyingi is a first year Public Health Sciences doctoral student at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis. Born and raised in Uganda, East Africa, he received his BS in Quantitative Economics (2011) and MS in Statistics (2018) from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. After his BS, he worked as a research assistant on the commission of inquiry into mismanagement of universal primary education (UPE) and universal secondary education (USE) under the Ministry of Justice and Constitution Affairs of the Republic of Uganda. He worked as a monitoring and evaluation officer on a United States (USAID) funded sustainable outcome for children and youth (SOCY) program and later coordinated two NIMH funded multisite studies in Uganda: 1) the Kyaterekera Study, which is a combination intervention addressing sexual risk-taking behaviors among vulnerable women in Uganda and 2) SMART Africa – Uganda, aimed at reducing gaps in child and adolescent mental health services and research in SSA through a population approach to child mental health under the International Center for Child Health and Development (ICHAD). His research interests include global health, maternal and child health. Joshua enjoys travelling and listening to music.
