The RRT program includes an intensive summer training curriculum that combines didactic instruction, mentoring and “hands-on” immersion in child-focused studies in low-resource settings.

Research Opportunity:

Hands-on research experience with one of the following research centers working on child behavioral health intervention/prevention studies. 

  • HomeGrown STL conducts research targeted at strengthening regional capacity to better serve young black males in the St. Louis region…moving research into action for social change.
  • ICHAD conducts rigorous applied research focused on family-level economic strengthening and empowerment interventions that tackle the interactive effects of poverty, disease, and health-related risk factors for youth.
  • The SMART Africa Center (Strengthening Mental health And Research Training) is an African regional trans-disciplinary collaborative center aimed at reducing gaps in child and adolescent mental health services and research in Ghana, Kenya, and Uganda through a population approach to child mental health.

Conference:

Fellows will also have an opportunity to network, present, and learn at the annual conference “Forum on Child and Adolescent Global Health Research and Capacity Building”, which may be held at Washington University in St. Louis, in Masaka, Uganda, or virtually, depending on COVID-19 conditions and related travel restrictions.
