Since 2002, the Workshop on Politics, Economics, and Society (WPES) has met weekly during the academic year to discuss pre-circulated papers by faculty and graduate students at Washington University and surrounding institutions. Each semester two to three invited speakers also present their work. Visitors in recent years have included Charles Beitz, Elizabeth Cohen, Robert Goodin, Ira Katznelson, Chris Lebron, Margaret Moore, Philip Pettit, Melvin Rogers, Julie Rose, and Shatema Threadcraft.

The political theory workshop is generously supported by the dean’s office of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences; the legal studies, American culture studies, and women, gender, and sexuality studies programs; and the departments of history, philosophy, and political science.
