MTIS Program Alumni - 2018 Cohort
Laney K. Jones, PharmD, MPH is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes at Geisinger. She completed a two-year research fellowship at Geisinger focused on Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH). She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and her Master of Public Health from Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Jones’ research project will help to close the know/do gap for treatment of FH. FH affects about 1 million Americans and half of these individuals are untreated. Individuals with FH have elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol from birth that substantially increases their risk for cardiovascular events which can occur as early as 20 years of age. Dr. Jones aims to promote uptake of evidence-based treatment for FH by assessing the barriers and facilitators to FH care and designing and evaluating the feasibility of an implementation strategy. Additionally, she will further her knowledge and understanding of FH and dissemination and implementation methodologies.
